Do I need an internet connection?
No. LOS App is 100% offline. Whisper models are downloaded once and run locally on your device using Apple Neural Engine. No internet required for transcription, no cloud processing, no API calls. Your voice data never leaves your device.
How good is the Polish transcription?
OpenAI Whisper is dramatically better than Apple's built-in dictation for Polish. It handles Polish grammar, diacritics, and even mixed Polish/English speech in a single session. Custom vocabulary prompts further improve recognition of unusual names and domain-specific terms.
Do I need Obsidian to use LOS App?
No! Obsidian integration is optional. Without it, LOS App is still the best offline voice transcription tool with Action Button/AirPods control, audio history, and one-tap copy to any app. The Obsidian integration is a bonus for those who use it.
What devices are supported?
iPhone (iOS 18+), iPad (iPadOS 18+), and Mac (macOS 15+). It's a native multiplatform SwiftUI app — not a web wrapper. On iPhone, you get Action Button and Control Center widget. On Mac, you get AirPods stem press control with audio feedback.
How does it replace Apple Shortcuts "Dictate Text"?
